Smiths Equipment Hire Ltd - Service Engineer Tool & Plant - Preston

 

Smiths Equipment Hire Ltd is a leading Tool, Plant and Powered access Hire Company with 10 depots across the North West and a current estimated turnover of £7m.

We require a service engineer for our expanded Preston facility ideally with experience with small tools, plant and powered access but any associated experience would be welcome. We are a company committed to training which would be provided to cover areas the candidates are unfamiliar with.

 

OTE:       £20-25k pa - Bonus - Company Pension Scheme.

Service Engineer Tool & Plant-Job Purpose, Key Responsibilities and Standards of Performance

To maintain and repair a variety of equipment types including electrical, petrol and diesel powered to the Safehire quality standard, delivering excellent customer service at all times.

 

 

Team Working:

To play an active role within the team working with and in support of the Depot Manager.

  • You will participate in and contribute to team activities and initiatives.
  • Delegated tasks will be accepted and performed with minimal supervision and timely feedback on progress and achievements will be required.
  • You will co-operate with the implementation of all company policies and procedures.

Customer Focus:

To attend to customers and assist in the operations of the depot to effectively deliver a maximum return on

investment.

  • All aspects of depot operations must be focused on supplying the customer with a high quality professional service.
  • You must assist in maintaining the depot’s current customer base, promoting and developing new business leads and custom.

Administration:

To maintain all records in accordance with Company procedures.

  • You must ensure all paperwork is current and complete, including any Office, Drivers and SafeHire

administration and inspection paperwork.

  • You must follow all hire counter and service procedures.

Performance Management:

To participate in your own development. Performance Management (PM) will be used constructively across the

business.

  • You must participate in your PM reviews as and when required.
  • You will have the opportunity to own an active Personal Development Plan (PDP).

Facilities Management:

To assist in the maintenance of depot facilities to the standards expected of a leading customer focused organisation.

  • You will keep the Depot Manager informed of any repairs and maintenance required to keep the premises in good order and secure at all times.
  • You will share responsibility for the cleanliness and tidiness of the depot including; showrooms, workrooms, wash places, toilets, forecourts and out buildings.

Health, Safety & Environment:

To be aware of individual’s responsibilities and requirements for health, safety and the environment (HS&E) and to act in accordance with them.

  • You must follow all company and statutory HS&E regulations.
  • You must take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and of others who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work.
  • Any unsafe acts or conditions must be reported to management immediately.
