Job Description: 

Smiths Equipment Hire Ltd - Depot/Branch Manager – Warrington

 

Smiths Equipment Hire Ltd is a leading Tool, Plant and Powered access Hire Company with 10 depots across the North West and a current estimated turnover of £7m.

We are planning to open a large, high profile and high quality new depot in Warrington in April 2012 and require a depot manager with exceptional qualities. A remuneration package will be negotiated to suit the candidate.

Job Purpose

To manage the day to day activities of an equipment retail shop and hire depot. Responsible for the effective leadership of staff, ensuring that all aspects of the operation meet the required standards, achieving or exceeding sales targets and delivering excellent customer service at all times.

Key Responsibilities and Standards of Performance

To play an active role within the management team working with and in support of the Directors and Senior Managers.

  • You will participate in and contribute to management team activities and initiatives, including the day to day management of your depot.
  • Delegated tasks will be accepted and performed with minimal supervision and timely feedback on progress and achievements will be required.
  •  You will co-operate with the implementation of all company policies and procedures.

Customer Focus

To manage and develop customers and depot effectively to deliver a maximum return on investment.

 All aspects of your operation must be focused on supplying the customer with a high quality professional service.

  • You must play an active role in maintaining your current customer base, promoting and developing new business leads and custom.
  •  You must consistently monitor your contracts to minimise or prevent any undue debts, theft or unnecessary grievances

Administration

To maintain all records in accordance with Company procedures.

  • You must ensure all paperwork is current and complete, including any Office, Drivers and SafeHire administration and inspection paperwork.
  • You must ensure all hire counter and service procedures are followed with a system set in place to monitor, record and advise of results.

Performance Management

To manage the development of all depot staff. Performance Management (PM) will be used constructively across the business, with Objective setting, interim and final reviews completed to a declared programme.

  • Any PM audit failures are to be addressed and corrected immediately
  • All staff will have the opportunity to own an active Personal Development Plan (PDP).

Facilities Management

To maintain depot facilities to the standards expected of a leading customer focused organisation.

  • You will keep Management informed of any repairs and maintenance required to keep the premises in good order and secure at all times.
  • You will be responsible for cleanliness and tidiness of the depot including; showrooms, workrooms, wash places, toilets, forecourts and out buildings.
  • You will conduct regular inspections

Health, Safety & Environment

To be aware of individual and supervisor’s responsibilities and requirements for health, safety and the environment (HS&E) and to act in accordance with them.

  • You must follow all company procedures, work instruction and statutory HS&E regulations.
  • You must take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and of others who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work.
  • Any unsafe acts or conditions must be reported to management immediately.
  • As far as is reasonably practicable, the health and safety of all your staff must be ensured.
